Man Boobs

Man boobs, otherwise known as Gynecomastia, is a growing concern for men. In fact, according to the National Institutes of Health statistics, approximately 65% of men between 27 and 92 years old experience gynecomastia.

What is gynecomastia?

Gynecomastia is a medical condition defined by abnormally large mammary glands in the male breast tissue. This is caused by a hormonal imbalance where the body is producing more of the female hormone, oestrogen, and the testosterone levels are reduced. This results in a larger-looking chest area or “moobs” as many have named the condition.

Gynecomastia can affect the breast tissue on both sides or present unevenly with excess body fat in just one breast or greater on one side than the other.

What causes gynecomastia?

There are several risk factors that can cause the hormone level imbalances which lead to the development of Gynecomastia. These include:

  • Genetics and the mother’s estrogen levels;
  • Medications including anti-androgens, AIDS drugs, anti-anxiety medications and antibiotics;
  • Anabolic steroids;
  • Illegal drugs and alcohol;
  • Medical conditions such as Hypogonadism, Hyperthyroidism, Tumors, Kidney Failure or Liver Disease;
  • Aging;
  • Excessive weight gain;
  • Herbal products.

Other conditions that can cause similar breast enlargement symptoms and should be ruled out are breast cancer and a breast abscess.

How can man boobs be treated?

Gynecomastia generally isn’t considered a serious condition for men’s health as it is associated with few physical side effects or complications. However, the effects on an individual’s psychological health can be great. It’s believed, over  30,000 Australian men experience depression due to the trauma of Gynecomastia.

For some adolescents and men, “moobs” may resolve over time but if it doesn’t or it causes physical pain, tenderness, depression or embarrassment, treatment may be necessary. This may be with medications (not specifically designed for Gynecomastia but may help with breast reduction) or surgery.

The two surgical treatments to get rid of man boobs include Liposuction and mastectomy.

Liposuction

Our Plastic Surgeons at Nip Tuck Holidays can treat Gynecomastia using Vaser Liposuction technology. During the cosmetic procedure, small and discreet incisions are made for the cannula to melt down the fibrous breast tissue and the glandular tissue. The excess fatty tissue is then removed to achieve a breast reduction. The process provides a smooth finish and enables the Plastic Surgeon to expose the chest muscles for a natural appearance.

More information is here: https://niptuckholidays.com/male-breast-reduction/

Mastectomy

Another type of surgery that may be appropriate is a mastectomy that removes just the breast gland tissue. This typically requires incisions to be made around the perimeter of the nipple or areola. As it’s a more invasive surgery than Liposuction, patients who choose this option to remove the glandular tissue will require an overnight stay.

In our experience, just liposuction or Vaser liposuction in young and older men can result in impressive results. Patients not only achieve a physical reduction in their breast area, but they also gain more confidence whether it’s wearing a tight-fitting t-shirt, working out at the gym or going topless at the beach with friends.

If man boobs are putting a dent in your self-esteem, contact us to explore your cosmetic surgery options. Should you be experiencing significant pain or psychological conditions such as depression as a result of Gynecomastia, it is recommended they seek medical advice.

Vaser Liposuction vs Vaser High Definition Liposuction

There is often confusion between the different liposuction procedures available, in particular, Vaser Liposuction and High Definition and Standard Liposuction.

All are cosmetic treatments are effective at sculpting the body and defining your shape, but which lipo procedure is right for you? Here we take a look at the two body contouring procedures and the suitability for both men and women.

Vaser vs Vaser High Definition Liposuction

Both Vaser and Vaser Hi-def Liposuction are surgical procedures to remove excess fat cells from areas of the body.

The key difference between the two cosmetic surgery procedures lies in the body sculpting.

Vaser Liposuction be used to target stubborn fat cells in all areas of the body including the tummy, love handles, arms, legs and neck. It can also be used to treat gynaecomastia (man boobs), to reduce the size of womens breasts and to define the face.

It uses a highly targeted ultrasound technology to melt and separate the unwanted fat cells for easy removal. As such,  it is a much gentler procedure than traditional liposuction methods with a shorter downtime, minimal pain and less bruising.

Depending on the fat removal amount, the end result of Vaser Liposuction is a slimmer, more contoured figure. *Vaser also be used alongside the skin tightening procedure and used to enhance the results or by using a fat transfer, in combination with a Brazilian Butt Lift procedure.

Vaser High definition goes one step further in the body contouring and sculpting process. The highly precise liposuction procedure removes small fat deposits around and on-top of the muscle groups.

This results in a high level of muscle definition and ultra-defined results that no other lipo procedure can achieve. Compared with Vaser, Vaser High Definition Liposuction provides a more athletic, muscular appearance.

Before & After of male Vaser High Def Liposuction

The high definition liposculpture procedure is best suited to men, particularly those who have good skin integrity and good core strength with a strong horizontal definition. High Definition Vaser used around a patient’s abdomen that has minimal fat can help to define the muscle groups resulting in a six-pack, athletic appearance.

Vaser High Definition Liposuction for women

Before & After of female Vaser Liposuction Surgery as seen on Dr Joseph Ajaka’s Real Self Profile

High Definition Vaser rarely suitable for women. In fact, very few females are good candidates for the cosmetic procedure as you have to be particularly lean and the results do procedure a very athletic, masculine look.

Women who opt for this body sculpting procedure typically want that bodybuilder appearance. When treating women with Vaser, we always focus on the vertical and midlines of the body rather than the horizontal. This highlights their natural body shape.

Step 1 – Evaluation by dental specialist as whether or not you are a good candidate. This would require an photo of your teeth to be certain that your teeth are healthy and strong. Also, your dental bite will be evaluated to ensure that a dental veneer can last a long time. The dentist will also discuss with you your desires as the shape and the colour of the teeth that you would want to have for your new teeth.

Step 2- Impression of your teeth for preparation of a diagnostic wax up or for fabrication of temporaries

Step 3- Clinical Preparation of your teeth- This step includes use of anesthetic when preparation of your teeth is required, the actual preparation of your teeth, followed by an impression of your teeth. Depending on your clinical situation the impression can be done digitally or with the use of traditional dental materials.

Step 4- Provisionalization- When your preparation is complete, your dentist will fabricate a temporary or a provisional veneer for you while your new porcelain teeth are being made in our dental laboratory.

Step 5- Final Insertion Appointment- At this appointment your dentist will prepare each tooth for final check and permanent bonding. At the conclusion, your dental bite is checked and any interferences that may exist with your opposing teeth is removed.

An Emax Veneer is a thin-layered dental veneer that can be used for to enhance the appearance of a tooth by bonding it to its front surface layer. An Emax Veneer is made from Lithium Disilicate Glass Ceramic, which is a very durable compared to an ordinary veneer.

Apart achieving great aesthetics, it is also needless to remove much of your tooth’s enamel layer for preparation, thanks to the Emax Veneer’s contact lens-like thinness of only 0.3 mm. The results are long-lasting while obtaining a very natural appearance.

We are truly proud of being the First Emax Veneers Center here in Thailand, and along with expertise on international cosmetic dentistry standard procedures, we are able to offer extreme smile makeovers to our patients during their holiday vacation here in Bangkok. The outstanding advantage of Emax Veneers that makes them standout from the others is their thinness. This is because they are made from a special-treated ceramic, they can be formed into a very thin layer while remaining very durable. This makes them look more naturally once they are placed into the teeth.

Cosmetic Surgery Industry in Australia & Medical Tourism

Australians officially spend more on cosmetic surgery than Americans, spending more than $1 billion a year and with a smaller population!
Now quite socially acceptable and fuelled by the acceleration in social media use, celebrity culture, and a combination of the two by way of social “influencers” and popular celebrities themselves, cosmetic surgery has become hugely popular.

Not only is it popular, but cosmetic surgery has also become much less of a taboo and more mainstream with many of us talking about cosmetic surgery at home with our families, around the dinner table, or with workmates. Thanks to the development of different technologies and the pioneering of non-invasive treatments, we can even go out of work at lunchtime or at the end of the day to undergo simple procedures and then talk about it the same afternoon or the next day!

Cosmetic Surgery Industry in Australia
  • Over $1billion per year spent by Australians on cosmetic surgery procedures
  • 500,000 procedures carried out in Australia every year
  • 30,000 liposuction procedures
  • 20,000 breast augmentation procedures
  • $350million spent on Botox treatments alone

In addition to these statistics, there here is also an increase in Australian men also undergoing cosmetic surgery procedures.
Medical Tourism

What is medical tourism?

We have offered the Ultimate Cosmetic Surgery Holidays in Thailand – Solo and Group Tours.
People choose to travel overseas to seek medical or surgical treatment that is unavailable in their home country.
Australians spend about $300 million a year on cosmetic surgery tourism alone.

Around 15,000 Australians travel overseas for healthcare services every year, sometimes on Group Tours.
Australians mostly opt for Thailand, India, Malaysia, although other destinations include Turkey, Spain, Mexico and Brazil, and South Korea.

As a provides of premium international Cosmetic & Plastic surgery procedures in Thailand for over a decade, we have coordinated thousands of safe and affordable procedures with extraordinary results for our clients.
With over 13 years working in the medical tourism industry, working with top International Hospitals and Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons in Thailand as a medical tourism agency, we know the industry well and can refer you to the best.
Our consultations are available world-wide, inviting discussion and inquiries as to the many procedures available, with all procedures performed at accredited, recognized hospitals, closely situated to idyllic holiday locations for peaceful and private recovery. The entire holiday (flight, accommodation, procedure, and recovery) is still a fraction of the cost of undertaking the procedure in your home country.

Our goal is to provide information on all things cosmetic surgery both in Australia and in Thailand based on our experience working with the top International hospitals and Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons for over 13 years.
Our role is to give people information, advice, and recommendations when traveling overseas for cosmetic surgery and dental, as well as in Australia. And help with their decision on choosing the right surgeon for their procedure.
We recommend and coordinate both surgical and non-surgical procedures along with their travel (flights and hotel accommodation) and holiday for the client for the “ultimate cosmetic surgery holiday “ in the paradise of Phuket and Bangkok!

We have successfully organized hundreds of happy, successful clients of both Group Tours and Individual Tours since we began in 2007 at a fraction of the price of the same procedure in Australia, along with the support of our staff and the fun and friendship of other ladies on the group tour.

For some of our clients, Thailand is by far the best choice as it saves them money and they get the holiday as well to recover! But for others, young children, family, and work responsibilities stops them from jetting off or the price of their procedure is around the same here in Australia- so it makes staying here the right option! And they want recommendations on the best choice here in their own city by referrals or word-of-mouth recommendations!

We are based on the Gold Coast but would also like to provide our clients all over Australia with the benefit of our knowledge and experience when inquiring about services in Australia vs Thailand vs Bali vs Mexico in terms of quality and price, the difference between a cosmetic and a plastic surgeon, Medicare rebates, access to superannuation, required time in hospital vs day surgery, the price in Thailand vs Australia and the best payment options. So you can work out the best option for your needs!

We would also like to extend our services to make it easy for our clients and others who are interested in surgical and non-surgical cosmetic procedures to have a direct, open dialog with me and our team.

What is the difference between a Specialist Plastic surgeon and a Cosmetic surgeon? ⠀ ⠀⠀ALOT!!!

This information is courtesy of the Plastic Society of Australia, as there is sometimes confusion that they are the same, but there can be vast differences in medical training and surgical education. ⠀ ⠀
In Australia Specialist Plastic Surgeon is a Commonwealth Government accredited plastic surgeon, trained and qualified to perform invasive reconstructive and cosmetic plastic surgery in public and private hospitals, and accredited day surgeries. ⠀⠀They undergo extensive medical education and training in order to be accredited. The surgical specialist pathway includes a minimum of 12 years medical and surgical education, with at least 5 years of specialist postgraduate training. ⠀⠀
⠀⠀
The Medical Board of Australia states that the ‘Specialist Plastic Surgeon’ title can only be used by FRACS approved specialist surgeons in the recognised specialty of plastic surgery.⠀⠀There can a big difference when it comes to the qualifications and training for Cosmetic Surgeons. ⠀⠀
⠀⠀
Currently in Australia, it is legal for any doctor with a basic medical degree to perform surgery. The title ‘cosmetic surgeon’ therefore is not indicative of certain qualifications as someone with the same qualifications as a General Practitioner can call themselves a ‘cosmetic surgeon’. The Australian Medical Council does not recognise ‘cosmetic surgeons’ as a medical speciality or accreditation.⠀⠀
⠀⠀
⭐️IMPORTANT TO KNOW: When making your decision in selecting your surgeon, remember that the Medical Board of Australia states that the ‘Specialist Plastic Surgeon’ title can only be used by Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) approved specialist surgeons in the recognised specialty of Plastic Surgery when doing your research in Australia or overseas.⭐️
Nip Tuck Holidays works with Plastic And Reconstructive Surgeons not Cosmetic Surgeons.
For more information about our surgeons inquire here: https://niptuckholidays.com/surgeons/

But while overseas surgery may appear to be cheaper.
I have personally hosted Group Tours to Thailand since 2007 as the first medical tourism agency on the Gold Coast and the East Coast of Australia in 2008! And have hosted tours to Malaysia and Thailand for over 12 years.

In addition to choosing an individual procedure, it is also increasingly common for men to combine different procedures. Undergoing cosmetic surgery to get rid of a “Dad bod”, for example, is a popular choice among Australian men, which usually deals with “man boobs” as well as removing fat from the abdomen and other areas.
Cosmetic Surgery is More Popular Than Ever Before, But is It Safe?
As well as the 500,000 cosmetic surgery procedures undertaken in Australia each year, medical tourism among Australians is also on the increase, with many choosing to travel to South East Asia, and particularly Thailand, to undergo treatment. Even with travel and accommodation costs included, treatment can often be far cheaper overseas.
Whether you choose to undergo a cosmetic procedure in Australia or overseas, is cosmetic surgery safe?
In general, it isn’t the procedures themselves that carry a risk – although any medical procedure will always carry a degree of it. Rather, due to the lack of regulation in Australia, any registered medical practitioner can call themselves a cosmetic surgeon. This could lead, and indeed has led, to some cases where unscrupulous dentists and GP’s are putting patients at risk by offering and carrying out procedures that they’re not trained or experienced in delivering.
While government regulation of some description is likely to arrive in the near future, in the meantime it is crucial that anyone considering undergoing a cosmetic procedure, either at home or abroad, is diligent in sourcing a clinic and consultantand knows how to go about finding the right provider.

Are You Considering Cosmetic Surgery?

As well as ensuring you find a clinic and consultant that is qualified and experienced in the cosmetic procedure you’re considering, you may also need to think about how you’re going to fund your treatment.

Plastic Surgery 2020 – The HOT Trends in Cosmetic Surgery!

1. COSMETIC INJECTIONS will reach greater levels of capability – and increase in popularity.

Snapshot: There will be an increase in requests for non-surgical options before people progress to surgery.  There will also be an improvement in what injectable treatments and dermal fillers can do for facial feature sculpting.
More people are realising what cosmetic injections can do for their facial appearance. They are affordable, accessible and this non-surgical option is painless and used by women in their 20s through to 30s and in their 40s, delaying surgical procedures such as eyelid surgery and facelifts for longer.  We also expect an increase in combined procedures that involve surgical and non-surgical options performed closely together in time, to to see this trend to continue with the new technology and  filler injection options and techniques and features that can greatly enhance the face.
This year, it’s all about the diversity of products and techniques and non-surgical options will be a starting point before moving towards cosmetic surgery options. We also expect an increase in combine more people are realising what cosmetic injections can do for their facial appearance and will use before having eyelid su procedures that involve surgical and non-surgical options performed closely together in time.  This is happening increasingly in 2020 in Australia and overseas with new filler injection methods can sculpt features to greatly enhance the face.  This year, it’s all about the diversity of products and techniques and non-surgical options will be a starting point before moving towards cosmetic surgery options.
  • That’s primarily because non-surgical options work on different aspects of the appearance than surgical methods.
  • But some things are best treated by cosmetic surgery rather than injections – or a combination of both.
  • Puffy eyelids, for example, maybe slightly reduced by cosmetic injections, but typically only a Blepharoplasty will tighten” lift, tighten and reduce the skin that sags to the point it impedes vision or disguises your eyelid and your eyelash line.
  • Used together, eye area injections and eye surgery can work ‘magic’ to reduce crows feet, sagging lids and reduce your tired, aged or puffy eyelid appearance.
  • Even under-eye bags and dark circles under the eyes can be treated with surgery, injections or a combination of a lower blepharoplasty or canthoplasty and filler injected into the tear trough area.

Take-home messages about this prediction for 2020 Plastic Surgery Trends and the non-surgical components of “modern grooming” are:

  • Non-surgical methods will become even more powerful when used by the right practitioner.
  • But non-surgical options still won’t accomplish the larger changes that many people expect from a cosmetic procedure, such as reducing their nose size, reducing wrinkles or remedying a fatty-looking double chin.

2. NON-SURGICAL Solutions for Body Contouring and Facial Rejuvenation will be trending

⭐️INJECTABLES, EVEN BODY CONTOURING AND FACIAL LIFTS “WITHOUT SURGERY” WILL BE COMBINED WITH SURGERY RATHER THAN USED AS STAND-ALONE PROCEDURES💉⭐️

  • New facial sculpting treatments using dermal fillers and strategic injecting strategies will evolve to rejuvenate the face and lips.
  • Fat reduction without surgery will lead to new devices being trialled on the market; the effectiveness of results will become clearer over time.
  • Healite II treatments using low-level light therapy will be increasingly used to help plastic surgery patients heal a bit quicker.
  • New lasers and skincare products will hit the cosmetic skincare market and patients will begin concentrating on rejuvenating their hands and décolletages as well as their faces.
  • Fat transfer to breasts for breast shaping may be on-trend.
  • Breast reduction and lift surgical procedures procedures  are more and more common in the last years.
  • Silicone strips might become more popular for healing wounds as well as less expensive as more manufacturers bring their silicone strips online.
  • People will understand that the artistic nature of surgery is a combination of art and science and work together with the patient and the surgeon to achieve the best outcome, including ideal recovery healing protocols to assist with best achievable individual outcomes and a combination of both combined together is best depending on expectations.

Take-home messages about this prediction for Plastic Surgery Trends and the non-surgical components of modern grooming are:

  • There will always be new machines that come onto the market, and many are simply being trialled to see how effective they are.
  • In many cases, surgery still  accomplish more, in about the same amount of time or  more quickly; but surgery is usually slightly more expensive depending on destination, country, quality of hospital, experience of surgeon, needs of individual patient etc. But often, if you add up what repeated non-surgical treatments cost compared to surgery, it’s often higher than costs of permanent procedure instead temporary. Both surgical and non-surgical achieve different goals.
  • More MEN will also begin to get  injection treatments, Facelift and Eyelid Surgery &Male Breast Reduction
    4. Natural Looking Breast Surgery. Bigger breasts will be less popular as  SMALLER BREAST IMPLANT sizes are requested.
  • Recent Plastic Surgery Trends in Breast Surgery show an increase demand for natural-looking vs fake breast augmentation results.
  •
  • Bigger isn’t always better when it comes to breast enlargement.  A body balanced, the customised approach and natural look will be the trend as the  “fake look” boob job trend further declines. This year, we expect to see more reasonably sized breast augmentations being requested across more diverse age groups. If you’re trying to determine how large you want to go with implant sizes, it’s good to understand that your ideal breast augmentation preferences are likely influenced by cultural influences, fashion trends, sporting preferences and personal cleavage ideals.
  • Take home message about this  Plastic Surgery Trend prediction about smaller breast implants being more popular than larger breast implants this year are:
    • Sometimes size does matter when it comes to getting a natural-looking breast augmentation versus a fake-looking breast job.
    • Your body size, not your ideal cup size, needs to be taken into consideration to get a good result.
    • BMI also has an impact (your weight or body mass index) as does your chest width, shoulder to waist ratio and other proportions.
    • The size of a breast implant can also impact your long-term results. If you choose an implant that is too large for your body frame, your breasts will not only look unnaturally out of proportion, they might contribute to short-lived surgery success such as a double-bubble or bottoming out.=
    • 5. Women Over 50 will seek more surgical help with Anti Aging
    • Cosmetic Injections are a great way to keep the years off a person’s face. So are the rejuvenated eyelid reduction procedures such as Blepharoplasty.
    • With our over 50 faces looking younger than ever due to injections or to a facelift or eyelid lift, we may be shaving 3 to 7 years off our facial appearance.
    • As non-surgical options for appearance rejuvenation increasing in popularity, so does the trend for having a holistic makeover, such as a Mummy Makeover that includes body, face, breasts and eyes.
    • Also, people are looking after themselves in new ways these days, meaning that cosmetic plastic surgery is no longer only available to celebrities or matriarchs.
    • Additionally, with more revealing fashions and swimwear being worn by women of all ages, it seems that Breast Lifts, Breast Lifts with Implants and Breast Reductions are all going to increase in terms of surgery requests.
  • 6. More MEN will seek surgery to reduce their “Man Boobs” (Gynaecomastia Surgery)
    • With the rise in obesity, soy product use, new beer brews, alcohol and other substance use and excess body fat, more men will end up with enlarged breast sizes.
    • The surgical solutions are Male Breast Reduction.
  • And of course, women with very large breasts will continue to pursue Breast Reduction Mammoplasty surgery to reduce neck pain, back pain, shoulder bra strap dig ins and uncomfortable social situations or comments.
    7. Swapping Out Breast Implants – Removing & Replacing Old or Textured Breast Implants
  • Breast Implant Exchanges and Breast Revision Breast Surgery is increasing with Removal and Replacement of Breast Implants as a priority for many women
    • Women who had unsuccessful surgery, botched cosmetic surgery performed overseas or surgery by less trained doctors will seek Revision Breast Surgery to try to get a better result.
    • As more junior doctors enter the cosmetic procedures market, the requests for breast revisions surgery by highly experienced Breast Surgeons will increase.
    • More people will also begin to realise there’s a difference in types of Surgeons who perform Cosmetic Surgery, and why it is much wiser to choose a Plastic  Surgeon and as highly trained and experienced as possible- internationally and Board Certified. Who specialises in plastic, cosmetic and reconstructive surgery.People who have had their implants in for a long period of time will make decisions to remove them or to remove and replace them.
    • Individuals who chose implants that were a bit too large (or smaller than they wanted) will seek out expert Plastic Surgeons to perform breast implant removal and replacement procedures.
    • People who experience problems with breast implants may want them removed entirely or replaced with a newer type or better brand.
    • 8. More Selfies lead to 3D Virtual Modelling for eyes & nosesselfies-cosmetic-surgery-social-media.jpg
    • This could lead not only to a rise in Nose Reshaping Surgery but to other facial enhancement procedures such as dermal filler injections, lip enhancements or wrinkle relaxers as well as double chin fat reduction treatment injections
    • .9. More Selfie Phenomenon Research will be publishedbest-gift-ideas-for-valentines-day-.jSELF-PERCEPTION RESEARCH WILL ENLIGHTEN OUR UNDERSTANDINGS ABOUT HOW OUR PSYCHOLOGICAL RESPONSES ARE LINKED TO OUR INTERPRETATIONS OF OUR APPEARANCES.
    • Some people have a love/hate relationship with their smartphone cameras and social media posts.  We are about to see more research published about how social media has changed our self-perception in both positive and negative ways.
    • EXPECT TO SEE SOME AMAZING RESEARCH FINDINGS ABOUT SOCIAL MEDIA AND SELFIE TRENDS INCLUDING ON INSTAGRAM AND FACEBOOK.
    • And finally, we will see a greater understanding of how much our appearance is linked with our self-perception, and how life-changing surgery or non-surgical cosmetic options – as long as expectations are kept realistic – can help.
    • 10. More Mums and Dads will have Abdominoplasty surgery when exercise alone fails to remove excess skin.
    • Mummy Makeovers will increase and the Daddy Makeover will become a common word in the vernacular; as people start to treat weight gain, obesity and excess skin folds with the latest Tummy Tuck and skin reduction treatment options.Mothers who discover exercise and dieting alone CAN’T get rid of their belly bulges and excess skin after pregnancy will know that there are surgical means to remedy these problems, such as Abdominoplasty or Belt Lipectomy Surgery and Breast Lifts (AKA Mummy Makeovers and rising number of men’s procedures dubbed “Daddy makeovers”.
